Can’t believe it, we’re packed and off!
So the day has come, we are finally off!!! Excited is an understatement, but there is a degree of nervousness too, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t! However, in the lead up to going away it didn’t feel real, because Guernsey was living in this artificial bubble whilst the rest of the world struggled with this pandemic. On one hand we’d sold our house, moved into our in-laws annex (thank you again!) for 8 weeks, packed up again, prepped and stuffed the van with gear ready to get on the ferry. On the other, we were just about to go travelling to the UK where, putting it mildly, things weren’t great and were heading south fast!
We were on the evening ferry and this was the first time we had taken the dogs with us. Boat was fine, the crew had socially distanced everyone, we all had masks on, which was probably the only weird piece about the journey. Condor were brilliant throughout, yes, you heard it correct, on time and nothing but helpful. Back to the hounds…what were we to expect, would they be okay, will there be sh!t and p!ss all over the van when we arrive in Poole at midnight or will they just snooze? Well they were fine, they clearly snoozed, it was us two that spent the best part of 3 hours wondering and worrying if they were ok! 🤦🏻♂️ Once we got off the boat in Poole, we overnighted in the motorhome park that is based in the confines of the harbour. It was the first night of wild camping (kind of) and we slept well and so did the dogs. Who knew a public car park could be so peaceful!?
Next morning we did the usual routine with the dogs and then drove up to just outside Weymouth to a campsite called Higher Moor Farm. This would be our base for the next 6 nights whilst we waited for Vanworx to work on the van.
T&TA 🙏🏼❤️
