Sunny days, an opportunity to sort out our gear, chill and get some vitamin D…
Since our last update, we’ve mostly been hanging around the place where we were staying just outside Weymouth in East Fleet, part of Fleet in Dorset. The touring site of the same name runs along side Chesil beach and the Fleet lagoon, not a bad place to spend a few hours walking and exploring the area with the dogs. Funny how you have flashbacks, this was one of those dull ones where you remember a book you studied in literature, a book called Moonfleet, turns out it was based on East Fleet! Kenny Fletcher would be proud! 🤦🏻♂️
As the sun was out and we’d finished walking, it would’ve been great to stop at a pub and have a few beers and glasses of vino. Well, as luck would have it there happened to be one on the camp site. So we took the opportunity two nights on the trot to just chill outside with a beer and a glass of vino or two, soaking up the last of those rays as the sun set over the Fleet Lagoon, plus there might’ve been some fish and chips thrown in. Not quite normal though because of the COVID situation, but nonetheless still a great couple of hours just chilling outside in the autumn sunshine. It then turned into one of those awesome cold, crisp and still evenings. You know the ones like you get in the Alps with a hint of wood fires in the air…..
In truth, it was a bizarre weekend, woke up to brilliant sunshine and you could sit outside with a coffee just in shorts and soak up some vitamin D! You wouldn’t have been doing that in the days leading up to the weekend, it was proper cold and wet! So given the past week, it was amazing to have decent weather for a change, even if it was only for a few days.
This also gave us an opportunity to reorganise the van, which largely means getting in a mess to get straight again. Something you can’t do too easily in the rain! Having gone through and rearranged our gear we came to the conclusion that we brought too much stuff, which means emptying the van when we get home and repacking for only two of us!! Next big trip will be the Alps, so we really need to have everything sorted front to back.
Now nearly all of the snags have been sorted which is great, unfortunately we still have issues with the wrap and sealing around one of the side windows, with the other side window still to be done. Not sure what happened here but unfortunately it is us that are left frustrated through no fault of our own. Although we weren’t happy about it we agreed that we will drive up to New Milton on behalf of Vanworx to get the work done by UTWS, who Vanworx outsource the wrapping to - mainly because Vanworx don’t have a supplier locally who offer that level of quality in vehicle wrapping. Our choices were either to wait for a few weeks or drive up and have the work done in the next couple of days. We have been reassured these guys are good and so we are excited to meet them, get the work done and then head to Scotland…..baring any more sh!t with COVID and lockdowns occurring🤞🏼
So we got to New Milton at 9.30am Tuesday morning, having been up since 6.30am to get there at a reasonable time. They weren’t ready for us and had a few jobs to do before fitting us in. It was a long day for us in the end as we left Han with them at 12.30pm and didn’t get him back until after 8pm. Suffice to say the wrap looks great unfortunately the seals around the windows will need to be redone, so Vanworx will sort this out. Got to our next stop (Longleat camp site) 10.30pm very tired but looking forward to the next few days exploring the nearby bike park and safari park.
Lots of love
